Student and pupil conference within the framework of the ROCABEU project
Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VU) regularly organizes scientific conferences and seminars within the framework of projects implemented by UU.
22.04.- 26.04.2024. Ventspils University of Applied Sciences together with Ventspils Secondary School 2 organized a conference of pupils and students within the framework of the RACOBEU project (Radio Astronomy. Cooperation between European Universities: Development of Scientific and Technological Skills through Astronomy). The RACOBEU project is implemented within the framework of the ERASMUS+ “KA220 Cooperation Partnership in Higher Education” program. Project participants from Latvia, Poland and Spain are participating in the conference. The next day, lectures led by university lecturers and researchers took place: • Silvia Diaz (UPNA) "Presentation of the UPNA and RACOBEU", • Pawel Bialoblocki (AMU) “Astronomical Observatories of the Adam Mickiewicz University”, • Jesus Alberto Cazares Montes (VUAS) “A short journey to the physics”, • Jesús Palacián and Patricia Yanguas (UPNA) “The role of mathematics in astronomy”. The conference was followed by presentations of students' astronomy projects: • V2V students presented methods of observing the Sun; • Milana Odintsova “Solar Cycles”, • Polina Luganceva “Geomagnetic storms”, • Sofija Bezrukova “Solar Radioastronomical observatories”, • Pavel Tokarev “The Solar & Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO)”, • Max Odincov “Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO)”, Irubide komanda (Maria Molina Hernando, Eva Sanchez Hernandez, Javier Muniain LuqueXabier Aramendia Unzue, Unai Allue Bere, Adrian Martinez Michel) no Spānijas prezentēja projektu "NIMBUS: “Earth from the skies". Polijas skolēni Spark komanda (Monika Urbaniak, Anna Dziadon, Tytus Golec, Antonin Judek, Oleksii Subota) iepazīstināja ar projektu “Graphical Astronomical Project”. 24. aprīlī UPNA universitātes studenti Endika Aguirre un Wassim Bouzarhoun novadīja praktiskās nodarbības Saules kartēšanas datu apstrādē. Pēc nodarbībām sekoja zinātniskā ekskursija uz Zinātnes centru “VIZIUM”. Nākamo dienu konferences dalībnieki pavadīta klausoties lekcijas (Vladislavs Bezrukovs (VUAS) “Space based observatories and instruments”, Jesus Alberto Cazares Montes (VUAS) “Lilliput ruling the world of Titans”), apmeklējot Ventspils Planetāriju un observatoriju. Milana Odincova un Sofija Bezrukova rīkoja ekskursiju pa Ventspils vecpilsētu. Konferences noslēgumā tika pasniegti sertifikāti un izteiktas pateicības. RACOBEU projekts turpinās, lai jau nākamā gada pavasarī tiktos otrajā skolēnu un studentu konferencē, kur mūs uzņems kolēģi no Polijas.
